As I write this in April 2020 we are in rapidly changing times as the world tries to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.  I’ve been having conversations with many expectant moms lately. One thing that comes up a lot is the fear of not being “ready for birth”.

First off, I want you to know that you are doing your best right now and that what you are going through is really hard. Getting ready for birth and motherhood in a time of a worldwide pandemic can be stressful to say the least.

The best advice I can give you is to continue working on your physical and mental preparation. Allow yourself to feel ALL the feelings. Additionally, talk to your partner about your concerns. Make a Plan A, B, and C. Trust the process and believe in yourself.

YOU ARE STRONG, YOU ARE CAPABLE, YOU ARE DOING YOUR BEST, YOU ARE READY FOR BIRTH.

Today, I have 3 amazing resources which are super helpful as you continue to get ready for birth.

2. Pelvic Floor Release

It is important to work on pelvic floor release throughout your pregnancy.  This helps your body get used to the sensation of lengthening/relaxing of the pelvic floor muscles. When babe is crowning, your pelvic floor muscles will have to stretch 4 times their regular size. The deep squat is a great exercise you can do all the way until the end of your pregnancy to practice this lengthening component. In this video, I show you different deep squat variations so you can find the one variation that best supports your body.
